Answer sheets recovered from Shivaranjith’s house were part of bundles of answer papers received by the University College on May 5, 2015 and April 1, 2016

Thiruvananthapuram: The syndicate has decided to investigate the loss of answer sheets belonging to Kerala University. Answer sheets belonging to Kerala University were seized from the house of Shivaranjith, the main accused in the University college murder attempt case. The syndicate meeting observed that it was a severe lapse and decided to appoint a sub-committee to investigate the matter.

The syndicate also decided to seek police investigation into the incident.

Meanwhile, it was confirmed that the answer sheets recovered from Shivaranjith’s house indeed belonged to the Kerala University.

The university allots answer sheets to each college according to a serial number. Examination controller reported that the answer sheets recovered from Shivaranjith’s house were part of bundles of answer papers received by the University College on May 5, 2015 and April 1, 2016.

Following preliminary investigations based on the serial numbers of the answer sheets, it was confirmed that the answer papers were lost from the University College itself. The answer sheets presently in police custody will be examined thoroughly. It has been found that answer sheets were lost in a similar manner in the last two years as well.

The syndicate meeting also observed that answer sheets could have been lost after 2016. This must be investigated in detail. Along with the investigation over loss of answer sheets, the sub-committee has been asked to investigate the usage of answer sheets since 2015.
