2019 Miss Kerala Ansi Kabeer (25) and runner-up Anjana Shajan (26) were killed in the tragic accident that took place at Vyttila on November 1. Ansi was a native of Attingal in Thiruvananthapuram and Anjana was from Thrissur. The mishap took place at the bypass between Vyttila and Palarivattom, near the Holiday Inn hotel at around 1.30 am.

The accident happened when the car in which they were travelling swerved to avoid hitting a bike that was in the way, lost control and rammed into the median separating the main road and service road. Both Ansi and Anjana died on the spot.

Their co-passengers, Mala native Abdul Rahman and Muhammed Ashiq from Kodungallur, sustained serious injuries and were admitted to Ernakulam Medical Centre.

They were returning to Anjana’s house in Thrissur after attending a party at a five-star hotel in Fort Kochi. In the investigation led by Palarivattom police, it was found that the car was overspeeding, which led to the accident.
