The police have summoned the driver of the Audi car, Saiju, to appear for questioning.

Ansi Kabeer, Anjana Shajan, Accident scene

Kochi: The mystery looms over the accident that claimed the lives of former Miss Kerala Ansi Kabeer, runner-up Anjana Shajan and their friend. The Audi car that was spotted chasing the car in which Ansi and Anjana were travelling has the registration number KL 40 J 3333.

The car started following them from the No 18 Hotel in Fort Kochi. The police have summoned Saiju, the driver of the Audi car, for interrogation based on the statement of Abdul Rahman, the driver of the car in which Ansi and Anjana were travelling..

After the car crashed, one person from the Audi car had stepped out from the vehicle and inspected the accident scene. Their friends had arrived at the scene in other vehicles. The police have received information that they stood at a distance, observed the scene and left from there. It is doubted that Roy, the owner of the ‘No 18’ hotel was included in this gang.

It is also hinted that the passengers in the Audi car were intoxicated and that they visited the hospital to which the injured were taken and tried to get information of their current situation. The people from the Audi car stopped Ansi’s car near Kundannoor and asked them to return to the hotel, as per reports.

The police have collected the CCTV footage from Fort Kochi to Chakkaraparambu. After this, the police found out that the Audi car had followed Ansi’s car from the hotel in Fort Kochi to the accident spot.

The digital video recorder (DVR) containing the CCTV footage of the hotel had been concealed. The owner of ‘No 18’ hotel in Fort Kochi had taken away the DVR with the CCTV visuals of the hall where the DJ party took place on the previous day of the mishap. This was found when the statement of the hotel workers was recorded.

From the CCTV footage obtained near the accident site, an Audi car was spotted chasing the car in which Ansi and Anjana were travelling. When police interrogated the people who followed Ansi’s car, they said that they only wanted to warn them as Ansi and her friends were drunk.

However, police are investigating whether these people had attended the same party in which Anjana and Ansi also took part and the probability of a clash between them. The police have not considered the excuse made by them, which is why they have been called for questioning.

The police had already collected the CCTV visuals of the bar and other areas. But suspicions escalated as the hotel owner hid the DVR containing the footage of the DJ party hall and the parking area only. Ansi and her friends were spotted leaving the hotel soon after attending the DJ party at the hall.

Though the police inspected the hotel two times after the incident, the DVR with the footage of the hall was found missing. Later, the owner’s involvement became evident after interrogating the hotel staff. Police summoned the hotel owner, but he did not appear before them.
