EM Raman, Letter submitted to the bank

Thrissur: Another man who deposited his savings in the scam-hit Karuvannur Cooperative Bank at Irinjalakuda died a few days ago after failing to get the money needed for treatment from the bank. Thalikulam native E M Raman (70), who invested Rs 10.04 lakh in the bank, died on Monday.

The hospital in Thrissur where he sought treatment asked him to produce Rs 3 lakh to treat the nerve-related condition he was ailing from. He submitted the letter from the hospital and the request to the bank on July 20. But the bank provided only Rs 50,000. His treatment was shifted to a small hospital following this. Raman who was sent back from the hospital passed away on July 25.

Raman had deposited the money after selling his house and was staying at his sister’s house. The bank did not accept his request to transfer the amount in his account to his sister’s name either.
