New Delhi: A request to change the judge hearing the actress assault case of 2017 has been moved in Supreme Court.
Thrissur-based organisation 'Jana Neethi' moved the request. The plea of the prosecution on the same was earlier rejected by the top court.
Jana Neethi asked for change of court if the judge cannot be removed. Organisation president N Padmanabhan and secretary George Pulikuthiyil also requested an inquiry into the conduct of the Principal District and Sessions Judge of Ernakulam Honey M Varghese. The survivor had to undergo severe mental torture in court. The SC guidelines on trial in sexual assault cases released in 2021 were violated, they said in the letter.
Former SC justice Madan B Lokur is a member of the advisory council of Jana Neethi. It is unclear what action CJI NV Ramana would take on the letter.
