Kochi: Leakage of Ammonia gas has been reported at Fertilizers and Chemicals Travancore Ltd (FACT)’s tank at Willingdon Island.
The leakage happened while the Ammonia gas was being transferred to a lorry going to Ambalamedu division.
Authorities are evacuating residents in the area to avert possible danger. The leakage happened due to a fault in the vault.
Normally, a tanker contains around 14.5 tonnes of Ammonia.
Traffic has been diverted in the place due to the incident. Fire Force personnel have reached the spot and efforts are on to plug the leak.
