Amidst financial crisis, CMO appoints new officer with Rs 1 lakh pay
Kochi: Amidst the financial crisis of the state, a new appointment has been made in chief minister’s office. The new post created was of special liaison officer with a pay over Rs 1 lakh per month. The decision was taken in a cabinet meeting held in July.
Special liaison officer is appointed to supervise and analyse cases in which the government is a party.
High court lawyer A Velappan Nair was appointed as the special liaison officer. His appointment was besides the post of law advisor to the chief minister.
Norms of payment for senior government pleader in high court has been applied to fix special liaison officer’s remuneration. It is Rs 1,10,000. Velappan Nair will work based at advocate general's office in Kochi. A special room has been arranged in advocate general’s office for this purpose.
However, the new appointment has attracted huge criticism as the state is undergoing a financial crisis.
