Allow private vehicles to enter Pamba: High Court
Kochi: The Kerala High Court has ruled that private vehicles can be given entry to Pamba. The court has taken a stance favouring the government on the issue. The order states that even though private vehicles can enter Pamba, it has to be parked at Nilakkal after dropping the pilgrims.
The court’s verdict comes on the petition filed by former Devasom board administrator P Prasanna Kumar seeking entry of smaller vehicles to Pamba. The police were against giving entry to small vehicles.
Pathanamthitta Police Superintendent had informed the court that parking of vehicles should not be allowed as it was a landslide prone area and entry of vehicles would make the traffic issues more worse.
The court did not consider the statement of the District Police Superintendent and asked the government for their opinion on the matter. The government took a favourable stance on the issue, following which the court enabled entry of private vehicles.
