Thrissur: A youth fell unconscious and was put under the support of a ventilator as he was allegedly administered the wrong medicine at Government Medical College in Thrissur. Petta native Amal, who was admitted to the hospital following an accident. His health condition worsened soon after consuming the medicine.

Amal was admitted to the hospital on February 1. His relatives alleged that the doctors did not treat him on time. After they protested, the doctors consented to ensure treatment, including surgery, but demanded a bribe of Rs 3,200, accused his family.

The Medical Board has initiated proceedings for Amal’s further treatment, said the superintendent.

According to the relatives, the doctor informed them regarding Amal’s discharge the next day. The wrong medication was administered after this.
