Thiruvananthapuram: Two senior police officials in Thiruvananathapuram were suspended for their alleged links with goon gangs.
The suspended officials are the Crime Branch DySP (rural) KA Johnson and the Vigilance DySP Prasad.
A few days back, DGP filed a report before the state home ministry demanding action against DySPs over the allegation that they mediated a talk between two rival goon gangs in Thiruvananthapuram. Reports said political intervention delayed action against them. However, a notification was issued on Wednesday to suspend the officials.
A probe from Kerala police special branch revealed that accused officials, along with Railway CI Abhilash attended a reconciliation talk between therival gangs. It was also found that officials financially benefitted from their alleged links with these gangs.
Four CIs, including CI Abhilash, and an SI, were suspended over the matter.
