Sister Sephy, Fr Thomas Kottoor
Kottayam: The Kottayam archdiocese has responded to the conviction of Fr. Thomas Kottoor and Sr. Sephy in the Sister Abhaya murder case.
The archdiocese said that the allegations against Fr. Thomas Kottoor and Sr. Sephy were unbelievable but it respects the court verdict.
Sr Abhaya’s death was unfortunate and sorrowful. The allegations against Fr. Thomas Kottoor and Sr. Sephy are unbelievable. But we respect the court verdict. The accused have the right to challenge the verdict in court. However, we are dejected over such a situation arising, the archdiocese said in a press release.
Sister Abhaya was a member of Kottayam archdiocese. The CBI special court awarded double life sentence to first accused Fr. Thomas Kottoor while third accused Sr. Sephy was awarded a life sentence.
