This means that though the result is informed to concerned authorities on the same day, the number is added in the total figure only on next day so that no confusion occurs in the numbers.

Thiruvananthapuram: Health Minister K K Shailaja stated the allegations that the test results of people confirmed with COVID-19 are blocked upto 24 hours in order to save it for the chief minister's press meet, are baseless. The minister responded in this regard through a Facebook post.

The baseless allegations like this will only serve to damage the confidence of the health department which is functioning in the best possible way at present. The positive results are handed over to concerned authorities as soon as it is received and the person in quarantine will be isolated. Also contact tracing is conducted parallelly, the minister said in the post.

The test results obtained after the chief minister's press meet also is handled with same accuracy. These figures are added in the total number of positive cases and declared in the press meet next day. This means that though the result is informed to concerned authorities on the same day, the number is added in the total figure only on next day so that no confusion occurs in the numbers. Some persons try to mislead the people pointing out this strategy, the minister added.

The baby who died in Kozhikode medical college was already suffering from fatal diseases by birth which is why the doctors could not save her despite giving best care and treatment. It is quite unfortunate some people try to misinterpret even the baby's death with bad intentions, the minister said in the post.
