Thrissur: After two-year-long Covid-19 break, Thrissur Pooram buffs are anticipating the resumption of the festival in full grandeur. The arrangements are in full swing for the festival slated for Tuesday.

From Sunday 10:00 AM Thiruvambadi and Paramekkavu groups will display the caparisons. Interestingly, actor-turned politician Suresh Gopi will inaugurate the caparisons display of Paramekkavu side. While Thiruvambadi’s caparisons display will be inaugurated by minister K Radhakrishnan. Governor Arif Mohammad Khan is expected to visit the display point in the afternoon.

The sample fireworks will begin at 7:00 PM.

Thrissur Pooram is billed as the mother of all festivals in the state and the history of Pooram dates back to the late 18th century. It was started by Sakthan Thampuran, the Maharaja of the erstwhile Kochi state.

The most keenly-watched event during the festival is the parading of elephants and crackers display.
