All-party meet on CAA to be held on Dec 29
Thiruvananthapuram: The state government has called for an all-party meet to discuss the concerns of people in connection with Citizenship Amendment Act. The meeting was called by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The meeting will be held at Mascot hotel in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday at 11 am. Although it was initially planned to be held on December 28, it was later changed considering the availability of the opposition leader.
The letter sent by the Chief Minister states that determining citizenship on the basis of religion violates the spirit of the constitution. It was in this context that a strike was organised in the capital city. Pinarayi Vijayan also said that the secular atmosphere of the state has to be strengthened and the meeting is being called to communicate with the people and to clear their apprehensions.
