All Maradu flat owners demand Rs 25 lakh compensation
Kochi: The owners of Maradu flats, which the Supreme Court ordered to demolish for violating Coastal Regulation Zone rules, criticised the compensation committee. The flat owners demanded that the interim compensation of Rs 25 lakh should be provided to all of them. They further said that they would approach the supreme court in this regard and demanded a deserving amount for every owner.
In the initial phase, only three of the Maradu flat owners will get Rs 25 lakh as compensation, as recommended by the committee headed by Retd. Justice K. Balakrishnan Nair. The committee examined the claims of 14 flat owners on Monday. Following this, the owners started protesting.
The flat owners complained that neither the municipality nor the compensation committee had notified them of the inspection of documents regarding compensation. In the first phase, the documents of only those who voluntarily produced the documents before the committee was verified.
Many owners are yet to complete the document verification. They complained that they do not get proper notifications regarding this. Meanwhile, the supreme court deferred the anticipatory bail plea of the builders Alpha Ventures to Wednesday.
