All Covid deaths are reported, says Kerala in SC
New Delhi: All the Covid deaths are reported truly and listed, informed the state government in Supreme Court. In a report filed, Kerala stated that even deaths suspected of Covid were subjected to detailed examination. Covid deaths are confirmed based on the guidelines issued by International Statistical Classification of Diseases, it further said.
Unlike other states, even bodies of Covid suspected persons were tested so as not to leave it out of the list. If the reason is attributed to Covid, it is recorded in the medical certificate. Medical bulletins stating reason for every death is handed over by superintendent of all hospitals to state nodal officer, it was said in the report filed amid allegations that Kerala was hiding actual figures of Covid deaths.
Kerala also pointed out that the state was able to bring down the death rate below 0.4 percent. Supreme Court standing Counsel G Prakash filed the report after SC asked all states to furnish the details of Covid situation, resistance measures taken, protocol issued and others.
The report also stated that the number of Covid cases was on the decrease in Kerala. The recovery rate was at 87 percent. There are 20,672 beds arranged in hospitals, 27,176 beds in Covid First Line Treatment Centres and 8,076 beds in Second Line Treatment Centres.
