All aged above 18 yrs to be vaccinated in state; order issued

Thiruvananthapuram: All people aged above 18 years will be vaccinated in the state, it has been decided. The health department issued an order to vaccinate 18 plus category without any priorities. Currently, only those with comorbidities and others with priorities are being administered Covid vaccine. These people will continue in priority category.

Though registration started for vaccinating the 18 plus category, only those with comorbidities and other priorities were vaccinated. As per the new order, all aged above 18 years will considered as a single block for vaccination. The new decision was taken according to the new vaccine policy of the central government.

Meanwhile, the priority given for about 50 categories including people with comorbidities, those travelling abroad, frontline workers and others will be continued. They have to register the web portal of the state government. Arrangement will be made for others to book slots in the CoWin portal itself.

The health department also decided to open more vaccination centres for the people aged above 18 years. However, rush in vaccination centres can be avoided only if more people are vaccinated continuously.
