Alappuzha: Mystery deepens over death of youth found hanging in cop's house


Kozhikode: Mystery deepens over the death of a youth found hanging in the shed of a house belonging to a police official in Alappuzha on Monday.

Sooraj (23), hailing from Thrikkunnapuzha, was found hanging in the house belonging to J Suresh Kumar, Grade SI of Kanakakunnu Police Station. Following the incident, the family alleged foul play in the incident.

The family pointed out that his left leg touched the floor and was bent, and his right leg touched the sand. His mobile phone was found shattered in several pieces in the backyard of the house.

The body was found by Suresh Kumar's wife around 8 am on Monday. Suresh Kumar had left for Munnar on Sunday for a get-together with his friends. Only his wife, and their two children, were in the house.

Sooraj's relatives claimed he left his house, saying he was going to attend a temple event. He was last seen at a friend's house. His phone was switched off when his family tried to contact him on Monday morning. Later, he was found hanging at Suresh Kumar's house, situated 10 km away.

It was reported that Suraj returned to his house on Sunday night and quarrelled with his family.

The mobile phone and bike's key were found near the body. His bike was found 150 metres away from the crime scene.
