Alappuzha: In a crucial update to the Alappuzha filicide case, the police on Friday said that the murder was planned and the accused, Sree Mahesh (38), had targeted to kill three people. In addition to killing his daughter Nakshatra, Mahesh had also intended to murder his mother Sunanda and a police officer, whom he had earlier planned to marry, and then planned to commit suicide.
The police received the information during the interrogation of the accused on Thursday. Mahesh was quizzed for more than five hours the other day. Following which, police came to the assumption that it was a case of planned murder. It is stated in the FIR that he killed his daughter over hostility.
Earlier, the targeted police officer, who was supposed to marry Mahesh, had opted out of the relationship accusing him of bad behaviour. Apparently, Sunanda also criticised him over the issue. Triggered by this, the accused ordered a hand axe online. However, he did not receive the order.
Subsequently, Mahesh brought a specially designed axe from Mavelikkara and hacked his daughter to death. The police had recovered the axe from under a bed during evidence collection, the other day.
Meanwhile, Mahesh, who attempted suicide at the sub-jail in Mavelikara on Thursday, is currently undergoing treatment in intensive care unit (ICU) of Alappuzha Medical College Hospital.
