Alappuzha filicide case accused attempts suicide in jail

Alappuzha: Sree Mahesh (38), accused in filicide case, allegedly attempted suicide at sub-jail in Mavelikara here on Thursday. According to reports, the person tried to end his life by inflicting wounds on his neck and right hand.

The attempt happened around 6:35 pm. He has been rushed to Medical College Hospital. The development comes a day after he was arrested for allegedly killing his 6-year-old daughter Nakshathra.

According to police, initial findings suggest the person killed her daughter in an orchestrated manner. He has not revealed the motive despite the five-hour-long questioning. It is learnt that police will seek his custody to dig out more facts.
