Alappuzha: Police have arrested a CPI local leader of Alappuzha’s Cherthala after a 14-year-old Scheduled Caste (SC) girl accused him of sexual assault. The person arrested is CV Satheesan (66), Cherthala South unit committee member and former local secretary of Kurppamkulangara.
Satheesan is also president of the SC community cooperative society. The accused came in acquaintance with the girl through this society only. According to the complaint, the person misused his acquaintanceship with the girl and her family for the crime. The assault happened multiple times, the complaint said.
The incident came to light after the girl revealed the ordeal during a counseling session at her school. CPI has ousted the person from the party, reports said.
