Alappuzha agricultural officer, arrested in fake currency case, suspended

Alappuzha: An agricultural officer arrested in a fake currency case in Edathua was suspended from government service on Thursday.

On Wednesday, Edathua agricultural officer M Jishamol was arrested by the police after a salesman approached the bank with counterfeit notes. The salesman, who sells fishing equipment, was caught by bank authorities while trying to carry out transactions using seven Rs 500 denominations allegedly given by Jishamol.

During questioning, Jishamolis refused to name the source from which she received the fake currency. Following this, police recorded her arrest. The raid conducted in her house also revealed nothing. The police are probing whether she was trapped by someone else using fake currencies.

Jishamol, who lives in Alappuzha town, is also a model. She has appeared in several fashion shows and claims to have worked as an air hostess. She joined the government service as a field officer in the Spices Board in 2009. She was a VHSE tutor in Muvattupuzha before becoming an agricultural officer in 2013.
