Alan Shuhaib and Thaha Fasal released on bail with strict conditions
Thrissur: Alan Shuhaib and Thaha Fasal, the main accused in Pantheeramkavu UAPA case, have been released on bail after 10 months of imprisonment. They were received by their family and relatives upon their release.
Alan’s mother and lawyer reached the High-Security Jail here by 2 pm on Friday. Alan and Thaha were released within half an hour after the documents were submitted. They expressed their happiness on being released and conveyed their gratitude to all this who stood by them during the crisis.
The bail has been granted with strict conditions in place. They are restricted from making any comments publicly. If any of the bail conditions are found violated, their bail can be cancelled.
The conditions include signing of a bond worth Rs 1 lakh by either of the parents for bail, surrendering of passport and restraining from communication with any Maoist organization.
The court granted bail after accepting the defense attorney's argument that the prosecution has not submitted any evidence proving their Maoist connection and that they were kept in custody even after the interrogation was completed.
Alan and Thaha were arrested for their alleged Maoist links in November 2019. The case was taken up by the NIA after 1 month.
