AKG Centre attack: Suspect arrested in another case


Thiruvananthapuram: Riju, a construction worker from Anthiyoorkonam here who was taken into custody over suspected involvement in the AKG Centre attack, has been arrested in another case. He has been booked for a Facebook post in which he threatened to throw stones at AKG Centre. The police have invoked non-bailable charges against him.

The man was taken into custody on Friday at 3 PM, the day after the midnight attack at the AKG Centre. But later, he was booked in the case related to his social media post on Saturday.

Meanwhile, police didn't recover any evidence to prove that the man was nearby the AKG centre at the time of the attack. Reportedly, even phone records of the person did not hint at anything suspicious.

The statements given by the people who accompanied him corroborated that he was at Kattayikonam, which is around 16 km away from the AKG Centre during the time of the attack. Similarly, the vehicle number of the person was found different from the vehicle number of the man who hurled the bomb at the AKG Centre.
