Accused Jithin arrested over AKG Centre attack

Thiruvananthapuram: The magistrate court here on Thursday remanded accused in the AKG Centre attack case to judicial custody for 14 days.

Jithin, a Youth Congress leader, has been slapped with charges under IPC sections 120 B (criminal conspiracy) and 436 (mischief by fire or any explosive substance, intending to cause, or knowing it to be likely that he will thereby cause, the destruction of any build­ing) among others.

The matters like source of explosive, whether harm to life was intended and whether there is conspiracy behind it need to be probed, stated the remand report.

Meanwhile, the court will consider an application seeking five-day custody of the accused and bail plea of the accused on Friday.

Jithin was arrested on Thursday morning for the attack on the CPM state headquarters on June 30.
