Palakkad: A dispute occurred in CPM Palakkad district secretariat after Minister A K Balan’s wife Dr P K Jameela was included in the list of probable candidates in the upcoming assembly polls.

CPM leaders P K Sasi, M B Rajesh, C K Chathunni, V K Chandran and V Chenthamarakshan opposed the suggestion. P K Jameela’s name was proposed in Tharoor, the sitting seat of A K Balan, and Kongad constituencies. Both are reservation seats.

P K Jameela is considered as Balan completed four terms and is not contesting the polls this time. As Kongad MLA K V Vijayadas passed away, the party is searching for a new candidate to this seat also.

Meanwhile, A K Balan said that he cannot respond on this matter until the party decides over Jameela’s candidature. He said this after the secretariat meeting. He added that he will react after the party takes a decision.
