New Delhi: In the wake of the upcoming general elections in the country, the Congress is all set to field the son of former defence minister and senior leader AK Antony, for strengthening the social media campaign in Kerala. Anil Antony, the elder son of AK Antony, has been appointed as the Convenor of the KPCC Digital Media Cell.
The main attraction with this job is one get to work closely with media cell chairman Shashi Tharoor, said the 33-year-old.
“I had never thought of entering politics when my father was active in the field. Now it is just that I will be putting my education to use in a field that I am familiar since childhood,” Anil said.
His appointment was announced by KPCC president Mullappally Ramachandran. Anil will join duty on Saturday or Sunday.
Earlier Anil had been engaged in conducting surveys every three months in Delhi to know about the political affinity of the public as per the instruction of former PCC president Ajay Maken. He had also been engaged in the social media campaign for Rahul Gandhi during the Gujarat Assembly elections.
Anil is presently the executive director of Cyber India, a platform working in the field of cyber security solutions. He is a graduate in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University, USA and Industrial Engineering from College of Engineering, Trivandrum.
He is also the vice president and trustee board member of Navoothan Foundation, a non-profit working in the field of healthcare and women. He has also worked in many multinational companies including Cisco Systems.
In 2017, he was chosen as a delegate for the Government of Japan initiated ‘JENESYS2016’ Future Global Leaders' interaction held across 3 Japanese cities.
