AK 47, country made guns, laptop and tablet among items recovered from Maoists
Palakkad: Police recovered seven guns including an AK 47, besides laptop and tablet from the Maoists who were killed in an encounter in Attappadi here.
Police recovered an AK 47, six country made guns including one with the symbol of CPI (Maoist) engraved on it, laptop, tablet, knives, torches, radio, pen drives, a uniform, harnesses for equipment and magazines and CPI (Maoist) flag from the Maoists.
Thunderbolt police force had killed four Maoists during encounters in Manjakkandi forests in Palakkad on Monday and Tuesday. The Maoists had opened fire at the Thunderbolt team on Monday. Soon, an encounter ensued and three Maoists were killed.
On Tuesday, while officials were conducting inquest of the three bodies, Maoists again attacked police. The Thunderbolt team retaliated and the gunfight lasted for two-and-a-half hours. It was in this second encounter that Maoist leader Manikavasakam was killed.
