Aju murder: seven accused get life term
Alappuzha: The Alappuzha Sessions Court, on Friday, awarded life imprisonment to all the seven accused for murdering Aju of Vydehi Veedu in Kalath here.
The court had earlier found the seven accused belonging to Alappuzha _ Shiji Joseph, Antony, Vijesh, Simon V Jack, Nishad, Thomaskutty and Sinu Varghese _ guilty of killing Aju, who was an AIYF activist and also the manager of a private bank.
The incident related to the case occurred near Thoppuvelli Sree Rama temple grounds around 11 pm on November 16, 2008.
Shiji Joseph was annoyed as he was denied the contract for constructing the house of Aju’s friend Abhilash. The hostility over the matter ended up in the murder.
On being instructed by Shiji Joseph, his six employees attacked both Aju and Abhilash using iron pipes and logs. Aju succumbed to the grievous head injuries he sustained in the attack.
