Kochi: Opposition leader VD Satheesan has alleged irregularities in the installation of artificial intelligence cameras for traffic safety in the state. He alleged that the sub-contracts were given to inexperienced companies which are connected to the CPM-controlled Uralungal Labour Contract Co-operative Society.
He asked whether there were pre-qualification criteria for the tender process and asked which other companies had participated.

Keltron gave the contract to SRIT India Pvt Ltd. That company formed a consortium right after being awarded the contract since it lacked experience in the field, he alleged. Satheesan further alleged that the same move was made in implementing the KFon project and the same companies were behind both projects. They are all Kannur-based power brokers, he said.
The Congress leader further said the project lacks transparency in the tender process. Keltron said that the cameras cost Rs 9.5 lakh each, but Satheesan alleged that cameras similar to these are not even a tenth of the price claimed.
