After ED, I-T dept to probe into KIIFB projects; serves notice seeking details of projects
Thiruvananthapuram: After Enforcement Directorate (ED), the Income Tax (I-T) department also has initiated probe against the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB). The I-T department served a notice seeking details of KIIFB projects implemented in last five years. Earlier, the ED also had served a notice in this regard.
Apart from details of projects, it is asked in the notice to submit details of the financial transactions made with contractors in five years and the income tax paid for every project. The letter was forwarded by Income Tax Additional Commissioner.
Earlier, the ED had summoned the KIIFB officials for interrogation. This resulted in a controversy and the officials refused to appear for questioning. Soon after this, another central agency started inquiring about KIIFB projects.
Finance minister Dr Thomas Isaac said that the accurate answers will be given to the questions asked by I-T department. There are no matters related to KIIFB which cannot be answered, he told Mathrubhumi News.
