Ranni (Pathanamthitta): There are reports that the missing college student Jesna (20) has been traced after two years. According to reports, the investigative team headed by Crime Branch Director Tomin J Thachankari found the girl from a neighbouring state. It is hinted that the probe team is trying to bring Jesna back to Kerala at the earliest.
Jesna Maria James, daughter of Vechoochira Kollamula native James Joseph, went missing on March 22, 2018. She was second year BCom student at St Dominic College in Kanjirappally. Jesna set out to her aunt's house in Mundakkayam Punchavayal area and reached till Erumeli before she went missing, as found by the probe team.
The police could not get any clue of where she went after this. The last message sent from Jesna's mobile phone hinted that she was going to commit suicide. The investigation also involved her male friend. However, the police failed to get any further clues. Meanwhile, allegations arose against Jesna's father also.
The DGP had announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh to those who give any information about Jesna. With this, police received many calls from different places in the country claiming to have spotted Jesna. Though the police investigated based on these calls, they could not find anything.
The case first investigated by Vechoochira police and then by Perunadu CI and Thiruvalla DySP and team headed by IG Manoj Abraham. The Crime Branch took up the case one year ago. Pathanamthitta SP K G Simon was in charge of the case. After Tomin Thachankari became the director, Jesna missing case was included in the priority list.
