Bharathannoor: After 14 years of the death of a thirteen-year-old boy at Bharathannoor in Thiruvananthapuram, the Crime Branch confirmed the incident as murder. Crime Branch has been conducting reinvestigation into the case which was inferred as suicide in a police probe.

Bharathannoor native Adarsh was found dead in a paddy field water storing pond near his residence in April 2009. Though injuries were spotted on the head and backbone during autopsy, police concluded the incident to be drowning as the body was recovered from the pond.

Later the case was handed over to the Crime Branch based on the demand for reinvestigation raised by Adarsh’s parents and natives.

When the water in the pond was drained, a handle of a hoe was found. Adarsh’s blood stained clothes recovered near the pond also reinforced suspicion of murder. This urged the investigation team to exhume the mortal remains and carry out postmortem again on October 14, 2019.

Apart from finding the injuries on head and backbone, the autopsy report revealed that there was no pond water in the lungs of the deceased. The Crime Branch confirmed the death as murder.

However, the investigation team has been helpless in nabbing the murderer. Adarsh’s parents have planned to lodge a complaint with the Chief Minister seeking a probe under CBI.
