Afra’s happiness was raised double-fold when she received an electric wheelchair from the district panchayat on Saturday.

Minister R Bindu gifted the wheelchair to the girl in a small function held at her house here.

Afra also received a handbook named ‘Suneethi’ released by Social Justice Department from the minister.

Afra’s father PK Rafeeq raised a concern about the condition of the road in front of their house that is causing a hindrance for Afra moving about freely. The minister assured the family that necessary measures will be taken to repair the road.

As part of the annual project, the district panchayat has set aside Rs 15 lakh for the distribution of electric wheelchairs for 10 children affected by Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA).
