New Delhi: Tamil Nadu refuted Kerala’s claim that the former had not issued warnings before releasing water from the Mullaperiyar dam. In the affidavit filed at the Supreme Court, Tamil Nadu stated that Kerala was warned thrice on November 14, 18 and 30 before opening the shutters.
TN also informed the court that it is unacceptable to form an integrated committee to decide over the release of water from the dam. A new committee is not required as there is a supervisory committee, its sub-committee and a disaster management committee to supervise the dam at present.
As Kerala has not set up a rain gauge till now, the state is responsible for the failure in calculating the sudden inflow of water, accused TN. A bench presided by Justice AM Khanvilkar will consider the Mullaperiyar case on Wednesday.
