New Delhi: The Supreme Court here on Thursday issued a notice to CBI while considering an anticipatory bail plea of the five accused in the Kerala Advocates Welfare Fund scam. As per the case, the accused had embezzled Rs 7.5 crores from the Kerala Advocates Welfare Fund.
A bench comprising Justice Anirudh Bose and Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia issued the notice to the CBI after hearing the anticipatory bail plea moved by the accused.
Earlier, the Kerala High Court denied anticipatory bail to seven accused in the scam. Following this, six of the accused, Jaya Prabha, Fathima Sherin, Martin A, Anandaraj, Dhanapalan, and Rajagopalan P, approached the apex court for the same.
The advocate representing the petitioners remarked that the first and second accused in the case had earlier received bail. Following this, the court issued a notice to CBI.
