Adoor Prakash blames Pathanamthitta DCC for bypoll debacle in Konni
Thiruvananthapuram: MP Adoor Prakash, who is former MLA of Konni assembly constituency, said that the UDF’s debacle in Konni bypoll was result of the lapses on the part of Pathanamthitta District Congress Committee (DCC).
“I suggested Robin Peter’s name without considering religion, caste or other factors. But when party decided to field Mohanraj in the constituency, I agreed to it,” Adoor Prakash said. He added that he has many things to say about the debacle and it will be stated in the party forum.
“KPCC should conduct a serious study about the failure in Konni and take action. Otherwise the setback will be repeated in Pathanamthitta. The allegations that I ran away from campaigns are wrong. I conquered Konni which was the stronghold of the LDF. My margin was mere 806 votes initially. Then I increased it to above 20,000 after reorganisation of the constituency,” he said.
“I contested from Attingal as directed by the party. I could win from the seat which was LDF stronghold for 28 years. Then I suggested Robin Peter for Konni bypoll. I considered only chances of victory. But later, KPCC decided to make Mohanraj the candidate considering the demand of DCC. I agreed and even took part in the campaigns. It was DCC which was in complete charge of the campaign. It might have not reached the public," Adoor Prakash said.
