Thiruvananthapuram: Palakkad Congress legislator Shafi Parambil has shelled back to back questions of the Opposition camp during the adjournment motion on Gold smuggling case in the Kerala Assembly here on Tuesday.

He was presenting the adjournment motion on the latest developments in the gold smuggling case after the chief minister agreed to discuss the matter.

He asked why the CM is not initiating a lawsuit against the accused Swapna Suresh’s statement if he is confident that her allegations are baseless. On the contrary, he asked why former CPM MLA KT Jaleel booked Swapna under the charges of inciting violence for her statement under Section 164.

Shafi enquired about the rationale behind Vigilance’s "arrest" of Sarith, another accused, which coincided with Swapna’s accusations. He also sought the reason why the vigilance chief was replaced.

According to Shafi, things happened as per Shaj Kiran’s (Swapna’s former associate who is booked in conspiracy case against her) dictum. “Why is the police force dancing on his instructions,” Shafi asked.

Meanwhile, Shafi pointed out that the Opposition is not competing to legitimise Swapna’s version.
