Actress attack case: Prosecution mulls contempt proceedings against Sreelekha IPS

Kochi: Legal experts said that R Sreelekha's recent remarks on the actress attack case of 2017 is unlikely to affect the case. Actor Dileep's lawyer also shared a similar view on the surprising revelations made by former DGP through her YouTube channel. Meanwhile, legal experts said Sreelekha could face a case for her remarks.

Meanwhile, the prosecution is planning to file contempt proceedings against the retired cop. It is also learned that police will record her statement.

She had stated that Pulsar Suni had misbehaved with other actresses in the past. For this, a case can be filed against a former DGP under IPC 118 for concealing a crime.

Her revelation during the final stage of the trial has also raised further questions over its genuineness.

According to Section 161 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, witnesses are not required to sign the statements recorded by the police. Sreelekha alleged that the police are writing down many things in the statements given in this way.

Legal experts pointed out that such an allegation by a senior retired officer casts doubt on all criminal case proceedings in the state.

At the same time, Dileep's lawyers said there is nothing new in the former DGP's disclosure. Sreelekha had made a similar revelation earlier.
