Kochi: Kerala High Court on Thursday strongly came down on Poonjar MLA P C George in connection with the actress attack case.
The HC warned P C George that he should not think he can say anything against anyone. The HC also pointed out that the MLA had mentioned the name of the actress at several occasion and violated the Supreme Court ruling in this regard. Cases were registered against P C George for comments against the actress.
“What would be P C George’s reaction if someone speaks ill about his family members? He has mentioned the name of the actress, who survived a sexual assault, at several occasions. This is in violation of the SC rules. Gone are the days of male supremacy. Don’t think you can say anything against anyone,” the court said.
P C George had asked “How did the actress restart shooting for a movie just two days after surviving a sexual assault. In which hospital did she seek treatment?, His comments had invited strong criticism from all corners of the society.
The Women’s Commission had suo-moto registered a case against P C George for demeaning comments against the actress.
However, the MLA mocked the WC and asked if they would hang him. P C George said if the WC issues him a notice, he would appear before it when he sees fit. The MLA’s remarks had created a controversy.
