Kochi: In a major development in the actress attack case, the prosecution has approached the High Court of Kerala against the trial court for not accepting the complete list of witnesses for rehearing. The petition will be reviewed by the vacation bench of the High Court on Tuesday.
The prosecution had sought permission for the rehearing of 16 witnesses in the actress attack case. But the trial court refused to accept the complete list. Following this, the prosecution has filed a petition in the High Court against the trial court.
Out of the 16, 7 had testified before the court. The prosecution said that they were looking to gain more information from them. The prosecution had also requested to seek explanations from 9 new people.
But the trial court rejected the prosecution's request last day. The court allowed the rehearing of only three named in the list. The court granted permission to summon two witnesses to the court and add one to the list of witnesses. But the prosecution says this is not enough. The petition also pointed out that the details of all the 16 people on the list are important in the case.
