Actress attack case: Dileep moves SC to stall trial
New Delhi: Actor Dileep filed an application in the Supreme Court demanding to stop the trial of the actress attack case being held at a special court in Kochi. The crucial evidence in the case, the visuals of the attack, is being examined at the central forensic lab. Until the result of the test is released the trial should be halted, Dileep demanded.
Dileep’s counsel and senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi requested before the bench headed by A M Khanwilkar that the plea should be considered urgently as trial procedures are in progress.
Proceeding with trial procedures before the results of forensic examination is like denying legal rights. It would be the violation of SC order, he added.
Following this, the apex court decided to consider the plea on Friday.
SC had earlier permitted Dileep to examine the visuals of the attack with independent agencies including Central Forensic Science Laboratory. Court also had said that witnesses could be presented at the court based on this report. However, this report can’t be handed over to anyone who is not connected with the case before the completion of the trial.
