Actress attack case: Court rejects Dileep’s discharge petition

Kochi: The court on Saturday rejected the discharge petition filed by actor Dileep in connection with the actress attack case. The trial court rejected the plea as there are no circumstances prima facie to remove Dileep’s name from the list of accused.

The court also rejected the discahrge petition of the tenth accused Vishnu. The court was dissatisfied as the accused including Dileep not appearing before the court. It has directed all accused to appear before the court on Monday.

The court also rejected the request to delay imposing the charges. The chargesheet will be read out on Monday. Meanwhile, Dileep will move high court against the verdict of the trial court on his discharge petition.

Dileep had argued that the evidences and statements of witnesses against him are not valid. He filed the discharge petition as the trial of the case is about to start. It is pointed out in Dileep’s petition that there are no clear evidences against him in the charge sheet.

However, the prosecution opposed these arguments. As there are matters that could possibly affect the privacy of the victim, the in-camera proceedings took place in the court.

According to the prosecution, call lists and same tower location of the key accused Pulsar Suni and Dileep are evidences. It also noted that removing Dileep from the list of accused will affect the case.
