Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Thursday will consider the anticipatory bail plea of actor Dileep and others in the murder conspiracy case. The Crime Branch will submit its report on questioning the accused for 33 hours.

The actor on Thursday morning arrived at the office of his advocate.

Dileep had sought bail after the police registered a fresh non-bailable case related to a conspiracy to attack investigating officials in the now infamous actress sexual harassment case of 2017, in which the actor is an accused.

The new charge was based on a revelation made by Balachandra Kumar, a movie director who was once close to the actor but now has fallen out with him, who said that Dileep had conspired to do away with the investigating officers in the case.

The actor and other accused were questioned for 33 hours in three days by the Crime Branch. It ended on Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, Dileep has refused to hand over his mobile phones to the Crime Branch due to a 'lack of trust'. His phones were handed over to his advocate for 'scientific examination' as he distrusts the investigating officers.

The instruction from the Crime Branch was to submit his old phones before 3 pm on Wednesday. The Crime Branch also informed last day that a notice was issued in this regard. Dileep fears that his phones might be tampered with.

Last Saturday, after hearing the anticipatory bail plea and the probe team strongly opposing it, the court ruled that Dileep and his aides have to appear before the police probe team for three days starting Sunday for further questioning.

The court also ordered that the actor should not be arrested till January 27 and on that day, the Director-General of Prosecution should hand over the details of the three-day questioning, in a sealed cover, as it posted the next hearing for Thursday.

Apart from Dileep, his brother Anoop, brother-in-law Sooraj, aide Appu alias Krishnadas, and close friend Byju Chengamanad are those who were interrogated and have sought anticipatory bail.
