Kochi: The Kerala High Court has granted bail to actor Dileep as the investigation into the actress abduction and attack case is entering its final stage.
The statements of all key witnesses have been recorded and the investigation team in preparing to submit the charge sheet in court. Also, the main stages of investigation have been completed. Against this backdrop, Justice Sunil Thomas has ruled in the actor’s favour, said sources.
It may also be noted that Dileep is able to move application for default bail after five more days.
The prosecution was planning to submit charge sheet on October 6.
The prosecution also brought to the notice of the court that that interrogation of few more witnesses is pending and confidential statements of 21 persons, including singer Rimi Tomy, have to be recorded.
The failure to recover the mobile phone and memory card was cited as a slip on the part of prosecution.
The court has issued strict conditions for granting the bail.
