Angamaly: The Angamaly Magistrate Court on Monday rejected the bail application of actor Dileep, who has been remanded in connection with the actress attack case. The actor will remain in jail.
The court observed that all charges faced by main accused Pulsar Suni will equally apply for Dileep. He has been booked for various charges including gang rape. This is the fourth time that his bail is being dismissed.
The court accepted the prosecution's argument that the probe team has upto 90 days to file the charge sheet. Dileep could get a maximum of 20 years in jail as per the charges booked against him.
The hearing on Dileep’s bail plea was completed on Saturday. His remand term was extended till September 28.
This was the fourth bail plea of Dileep, who was arrested on July 10 for alleged involvement in the conspiracy that led to the abduction and molestation of the actress in February and the second before the magistrate's court here. He had moved the Kerala High Court twice too, but failed to get any relief.
In his bail plea, Dileep had submitted that he has completed 60 days in judicial custody and hence, is entitled to a statutory bail.
The prosecution opposed his bail plea citing that the investigation into the case was still not completed. The prosecution also argued that if he is granted bail, that will adversely affect the probe. There was sufficient material to implicate the accused in the case, it had said.
The High Court will today hear the anticipatory bail application filed by actor and Dileep’s wife Kavya Madhavan.
