Kochi: The trial court of the 2017 actress sexual assault case here dismissed the plea of the prosecution to probe the alleged leakage of visuals from the court.
It dismisses the plea citing an unsatisfactory explanation of the investigating officer. It said the demand was already dismissed in the order issued by the court on May 9. Prosecution then said it was not informed about it. Court asked why they did not collect the order.
Earlier, scientific evaluation had shown that the hash value of the memory card containing the visual of the attack was changed. It implies the possibility of tampering with the visuals. However, the court said it received the explanation of the forensic officer during the trial. It then asked the prosecution to explain the need for sending the visual again for examination. The court noted the reply to this was unsatisfactory.
Meanwhile, the survivor in the assault case met chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan and expressed her concerns in the matter. She later told media persons that she has never questioned the government and is satisfied with the response of the CM.
