Kochi: Police took a Tamil Nadu native into custody over reckless driving in Kalamassery on Tuesday. The arrested individual is Bharat (29), a lorry driver from Kallakurichi district.

The incident came to the attention of the authorities after former Rajya Sabha MP and actor Suresh Gopi notified the police control room about the reckless driving.

The lorry driver refused to let Suresh Gopi's car pass at Toshibha Junction in Kalamassery. The actor was returning to Thrissur after paying homage to the late actor Kollam Sudhi.

Bharat continued driving recklessly despite the driver of the actor's car repeatedly honking to let them pass.

Later, based on a complaint filed by the actor, the police intercepted the tanker lorry at Angamaly. Police informed that the driver was in an inebriated condition.
