Kochi: The prosecution approached the High Court seeking to extend the hearing of witnesses in the actress attack case of 2017. In the plea, the prosecution requested that the hearing of the witnesses have to be done after completing reinvestigation of the case.
Last week, the HC had permitted the prosecution to take 5 new witnesses for the hearing. The court had directed to complete the hearings within 10 days. But now, the prosecution has approached the High Court demanding to postpone the hearing as the deadline mentioned in the court order will expire on January 30.
The prosecution informed the court that it is not practical to complete the hearing procedures within just 10 days as some of the witnesses tested positive for Covid 19 and one of them is out of state.
The interrogation of five suspects including Dileep is progressing on the second day for the alleged conspiracy to kill the investigating officers. A team led by Crime Branch SP Mohanachandran is questioning the 6 accused including actor Dileep.
