Alappuzha: The CPM leader who recorded the obscene visuals of women on his mobile phone was expelled as Kuthirapanthy area election secretary. Area committee member Sanal Kumar was appointed in this post. Kuthirapanthy local committee meeting will be held on Monday at the Alappuzha south area committee office to discuss the recent developments.

The accused was not removed from the party or the area committee as the probe report over the allegations has not been submitted yet. However, the party decided to remove him from the programmes which involve campaigns and participation of the public.

The obscene videos and photos on his phone were found when the locals seized his mobile phone after he attempted to sexually abuse a girl. Following this, a commission comprising district secretariat members M Mahendran and G Rajamma was formed to probe the complaint. It has been reported that the probe report will be submitted to the party only after Rajamma, who is currently participating in the national conference of All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA), returns from Thiruvananthapuram. The district leadership will take action as per the findings of the report.
